Specs Howard School is dedicated to success. With a 40 year history, the school has helped many graduates get their start in the media industry. As a graduate you have full access to specsgrads.com (Specs Career Central), an online employment tool that allows you to search job openings, build your resume, read resume tips, and more. Be sure to register for an account today!
In addition to Specs Career Central, graduates have access to the career services staff who can help review your resume and prepare you for your next interview. After all, we consider you—our graduates—our strength. The career service office is available five days a week by calling (248) 358-9000.
Specs Howard alumni provide inspiration to staff and students alike. We encourage you to check out some of our graduate stories. Remember to keep us informed. You can email us with your letters, news, stories, and photos. Also, keep an active profile on Specs Career Central to stay posted on new opportunities. Stay current with the school by following Specs Howard on Facebook and Twitter. You can also access Dick Kernen's media industry blog at UncleKernen.com.
If you're a Specs Howard graduate, you may have the opportunity to transfer credits to an area college or university depending on the program you completed.
While the number of credits each college or university accepts is accurate to our knowledge, transfer credit is granted by the receiving institution and is subject to change. The number of credits accepted may also vary due to program changes or other conditions beyond our control. It may also depend on how long ago you graduated from Specs Howard.
We recommend investigating the college or university you wish to attend and their transfer policy before you enroll. We would also like to know if you encounter any problems so we are able to investigate and improve the process.
Specs Howard School has added Graphic Design and Digital Media Arts Programs. All alumni in good standing qualify for a $1,000 Alumni Scholarship to use toward either of these programs. Graphic Design and Digital Media graduates are also eligible for this scholarship if they enroll in a second program.
Graphic Design and Digital Media Arts are one-year programs. But unlike our traditional Radio, Video & Film Program, you spend only two days a week on-campus (barring any lab work). The rest of your time is spent attending online classes (approx. 6 hrs. a week). Both programs provide all students with a MacBook to use for the length of the program.
