How do I apply to Specs Howard School of Media Arts?
To begin the application process, call 866-61-SPECS to schedule an appointment or jumpstart the process by filling out the Apply Online Form and an admissions representative will contact you.
What are your entrance requirements?
You will need a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. High school seniors may enroll pending graduation if all other admission requirements have been met. You will also need to pass an entrance evaluation that is given here at the school. There is no fee to take the evaluation. Learn more about our admissions process.
How long are your programs?
The Radio, Video & Film (RVF) Program is 8 months long if you opt to study a single concentration in either radio or video. If you elect to study two concentrations, the Radio, Video & Film Dual Concentration Program is 12 months in length. The Graphic Design Program and the Digital Media Arts Program are each one-year in length.
Am I eligible for financial aid or any scholarships?
Everyone's situation is different, so we address tuition and financial options during your initial appointment. Your admission representative will walk you through our entrance requirements and assign you a financial aid officer who will help you determine your funding options and your next step. Are the same programs offered at both locations?
No. The Radio, Video & Film Programs and the Graphic Design Program are only offered at our campus in Southfield. The Digital Media Arts Program is now offered at both our Southfield campus and our satellite location in Farmington Hills.

Do you offer any programs that are strictly online?
No. The Graphic Design and Digital Media Arts Programs are only partially online. All of our programs require some in-class time. The RVF Programs do not yet have an online component.
When is your next open house?
We have an "open" walk-in day every Wednesday from 9am-5pm, which means if you drop in at our main campus in Southfield, we'll give you a tour on the spot! We also hold various demo days and open houses. For news & upcoming events, check out Specs.TV.
