When it comes to radio, Kelly Brown is no back-up singer.

She has been local music's biggest fan and cheerleader since her career in radio began and in turn, her high profile in Detroit is largely the result of her grassroots.

Would you give us a run-down on your career history?
Been in the "Biz" for 10 years (S---, ok, 12). Few months at WRIF as an intern, then the rest at 89X, and then WRIF again and now WIOT.

What have been some of the highlights of your career?
I love, love, LOVE doing stage announcements! Lollapallooza several years ago was really cool. I brought on bands such as Soundgarden, Ice-T, Ministry and Luscious Jackson. Then there was Korn's 1st tour for one of our birthday bashes -- that rocked. Oh and another one of my faves was bringing on The Tragically Hip for a sold out show at Cobo Hall last year. Knowing our Canadian friends made up most of the audience, I got up on stage and started to sing the Canadian national anthem. That went over VERY WELL. Not to mention a great deal of cool interviews over the years...

Who is the person who influenced you most in your career?
Influenced over the years? Greg St. James, Ann Carlini, and Lynn Woodison are very strong influences. If it wasn't for all three of these people, I would not be where I am today.
