Curriculum

At the Main Campus in Southfield, and at its satellite location in Farmington Hills, Specs Howard offers a blended curriculum, combining on-campus coursework, hands-on training, and online study designed to build the confidence and skill levels needed to succeed in the world of media arts.

Specs students have direct access to the facilities and tools necessary to complete classwork and project creation.

Faculty & Staff

At the Main Campus in Southfield, and at its satellite location in Farmington Hills, Specs Howard staff and faculty take an active interest in every student’s individual development, providing students with structured opportunities to succeed in simulated job situations. Under the supervision and guidance of faculty members who have all received college degrees in their areas of expertise and/or have worked extensively in those fields, students receive theoretical background in traditional classroom settings and feedback from lab and field experiences.

Experience & Opportunity

Whenever possible, students are offered internship opportunities (usually unpaid) with organizations in the communications and media fields to enrich their educational experience. Internships, while strongly encouraged, are not a requirement for graduation from any SHS program.

Specs Career Services Department actively generates job leads and works individually with graduates to maximize their possibilities for timely and appropriate job placement. And since Specs Howard School of Media Arts graduates have been working in the industry since 1970; many Specs' alumni are currently employed in upper-level management positions in the radio, television and communications industries.
